According to Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity associate director Jeff Lamoureux, the John Deere Foundation has shown that the company’s tagline, “Nothing runs like a Deere,” could also be “No one gives like a Deere.”
The Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the John Deere Foundation to assist in its mission to eliminate poverty housing and fulfill Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.

In addition to the monetary donation, John Deere of Paton also provided physical labor in completing a Helping Hands home repair project at the home of Steve and Sherry Joy in Paton.
John Deere – Paton employees volunteered on site for four consecutive days to repair and replace the Joys’ roof while also applying a fresh coat of paint to both house and garage. In total John Deere – Paton employees provided almost 200 hours of labor on this project.
This is the third consecutive year employees from John Deere – Paton have provided extensive volunteer labor on Helping Hands projects in Greene County. Previous projects were completed in Jefferson and Rippey.
According to Lamoureux, , John Deere and its employees have been a valuable asset to Habitat’s housing ministry in Greene County. “Essentially the volunteer commitment from the employees of John Deere in Paton allows Habitat to complete an additional project in Greene County each year, blessing one additional family with critical home repairs” said Lamoureux.
As a Christian ministry aligned with Habitat for Humanity International, Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity serves residents in Boone, Greene and Guthrie Counties through building new homes, renovating existing homes, and repairing owner-occupied homes.
